Special Events

Senior High Winter Camp

After exams and Christmas activities, the senior high students have the opportunity to go to Gatlinburg, TN for Winter Camp. The week between Christmas and New Years is the usual time for this event. As many as 400 students have gathered in the ballroom of the Glenstone Lodge to hear the best of worship bands and a speaker who challenges them to walk closer to the Lord and serve others as they look to a new year. Some of the speakers have been Mark Matlock, Afshin Ziafat, David Nasser, and Adam Robinson. We have had great worship leaders in the Chris White Band, the Billy Foote Band, the Swift, and the Chris Orr Band.

Disciple Now / Student Life Conference

In February 13-15, we will host the Student Life Conference with about 5000 students from all over the midsouth coming to hear a lively worship band and a challenging speaker. This year worship will be led by Kristian Stanfill. Students will be taught by Francis Chan. In addition to the Conference, our students participate in our very own Disciple Now. Groups of students are welcomed into the homes of many of our church families to spend the night, have fun, and participate in small group discussions of the topics presented by the speaker. They attend the Conference on Friday night, Saturday morning and afternoon and then have a DNOW Rally on Sunday morning to cap off the weekend.

International Mission Projects

Juniors and Seniors are given the opportunity to participate in mission projects in Central America each summer. Two groups are formed with one going to Honduras to serve through Point of Impact Ministry and Impacto Church. The other group goes to another Central American country to minister at schools and help our missionaries located in that area. Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Venezuela have been the destination of this group in years past. Students come back changed and inspired to take the gospel to people outside the U.S.

Senior Only Activities

As our students complete their senior year there are several events designed to celebrate their graduation. SENIOR SUNDAY is an annual event the first Sunday of May when the senior students are invited to the College ministry for breakfast and a warm welcome into College Life. Following the morning service Seniors are then treated to a reception with Pastor Steve and Donna. Each student has their picture made with the Pastor. SENIOR GIRLS have a special time with Donna Gaines when she honors them with a Tea at her home. The girls enjoy dressing up and hearing a special word from their Pastor’s wife. Finally, a SENIORS ONLY trip to the beach is scheduled for the end of May. Students are challenged to remain faithful to their commitment to Christ as they make the transition from high school to college.
