Favorite things to do?
Other than working, teaching, and attending student events, I enjoy doing spontaneous fun things with Jennie, reading, sitting around with my brothers, and catching up on rest.
If there was a movie about your life, who would play your part?
Wow, tough one...probably either Samuel L. Jackson or Burt Reynolds. If they're not availible, Kevin Spacey.
Favorite books?
Other than the Bible, just about anything by Thomas Brooks and John Owen. Big fan of the Puritans! I like J. Oswald Sanders and J.I. Packer was well. For lighter reading, I like the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
What passage of the Bible do you most identify with, why?
I love the Word.... I love to read it, study it, teach it and attempt to bring my life in line with it. It's so hard to pinpoint one passage... I would probably say that Psalm 67 continues to challenge me. David prays for the blessing of God, not for his own consumption, but for the sake of re-distributing the grace of God to all nations. I'm trying to figure out what that looks like in my life... too often I've expected the church to reflect this but have been unwilling to adjust personally.
What do you love about your job?
Absolutely (just about) everything! I love to see the grace of God transform the lives of students and lead them to pursue His glory among all nations. It excites me to think about what this generation will accomplish as they forsake materialism and self-obsession to spend their lives in pursuit of the Great Commission.
What's on your IPOD?
Amos Lee, Andrew Peterson, Bela Fleck, Crowder, David Platt sermons, Lecrae, Nickel Creek, Ray LaMontagne, Soverign Grace, Willie Nelson
Describe yourself in high school?
Underachiever. Follower. Insecure. Searching. Asleep.
What did you get in trouble for most as a kid?
Either picking my nose or being mean to my brothers. Or not performing well in school.
Something you have never shared with a student?
A snuggie
How could someone pray for you?
That I would be a holy, yielded, and prayerful man
What would be the theme song of your life?
Tough one..."Believe it or Not" by Joey Scarbury, or "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"
